How do I schedule my lessons?

After your free intro lesson we pick a standing weekly time that stays yours for the semester. Scheduling and reminders happen by email or text - whichever you prefer.

What is the cancellation policy?

Give 24 hours' notice, and we will reschedule within the same month at no charge. Cancellations within 24 hours can be rescheduled but are not guaranteed. No-shows are billed in full, since the time is held for you and for me.

Are lessons virtual or in person?

Both. In-person lessons happen at the home studio, with a piano on hand, and cover voice lessons and music theory tutoring. Online lessons run over Zoom and cover the full lineup - music, voice and rhythm. Many students mix the two.

What should I bring to a lesson?

Your instrument if it is portable, a pencil, and any music you are working on. You may also bring your phone or a recording device to record the lesson - this is encouraged for individual development.

Do I need to own an instrument?

It depends on the area you are looking to improve upon. Online voice students are required to have a keyboard of some sort - not to begin lessons, but it becomes imperative for growth. I'm more than happy to help you find very affordable instruments for the course.

How much should I practice?

Young beginners do well with 10–15 minutes most days; older and more advanced students usually land around 30–45. Consistency beats length every time, and you will leave each lesson with a specific plan.

What ages and skill levels do you teach?

Everyone from age 5 to 85, complete beginners through advanced students. Lessons are built around where you are now rather than a fixed curriculum, so the pace and material adjust to fit.

How does billing work?

Online lessons are billed monthly through a PayPal subscription - four weekly lessons per cycle, renewing on the day you subscribed. In-person lessons are pay-per-lesson instead (PayPal, Venmo, cash or check). Either way there are no long-term contracts, and online subscriptions can be paused or cancelled any time before the next billing cycle.

I've never played or sung before - is that OK?

Yes - most students start as complete beginners. The free intro lesson is there to meet you where you are and build a plan from zero, with no experience assumed.

Do parents need to stay during lessons?

For younger students, parents are welcome to sit in, especially early on - it's entirely up to you. Teens and adults typically attend on their own, whether in the studio or online.

Is there a recital or performance opportunity?

If you're working toward a school recital, audition, or other performance, that becomes part of the lesson plan - repertoire chosen with the date in mind, run-throughs, and performance-ready polish as it gets closer.
